Content Warnings
Hello! So, given the canon Filbo Fiddlepie comes from, it may be worthwhile to be aware some potential content warnings may happen in conversations about canon events and in situations such as, say, memories, if they happen.
If any of these are things you'd rather to never touch, simply leave a comment here and it won't be mentioned. Of course, comments are screened.
When talking about canon, it's almost guaranteed the following content warning may happen:
*Body horror: Relatively benign, but it's body horror nonetheless. Mentions of limbs and body parts turning into food items. No descriptions or depictions of how it happens, but even if it did, it's instantaneous. Could be just an arm, could be the entire character looking like a mishmash of random foodstuff cobbled into the shape of a living walking creature -- but in general it's lighthearted
When talking about canon spoilers, it's possible the following content warning may happen:
*Parasitism: Just in general, no going into the nitty-gritty, but it's parasites and that can really ick some people out.
*Generally Dying Unpleasantly: Self-explanatory...?
There may be offhand mentions of the following if the conversation veers in this direction / Filbo makes a nonchalant comment about it:
*Cannibalism: Characters are just really flippant about cannibalism in this canon, goodness gracious. Cannibalism and self-cannibalism (for scientific purposes) are included. Also what the hell do you mean Soylent Green may or may not be a factual thing that happened in this world?
*Historical unpleasantries: It's not like Filbo likes to talk about this, but given how talkative and enthusiastic other canon characters are about this he unfortunately knows about things such as ritual sacrifices, handling of the dying and dead by past civilizations, skeletons -- lots of skeletons, this island is littered with them -- and the general cycle of civilizations forming and dying. Cheerful times for the whole family.
I'M MAKING THIS CANON AND EVERYTHING IN IT SOUND WORSE THAN IT IS I SWEAR
At the end of the day, Bugsnax is a cozy and lighthearted game of fuzzy creatures hunting and eating insects that resemble food, getting their body parts temporarily transformed into foodstuff (it returns to normal after time passes without eating more Bugsnax, say, a few weeks), and having absolutely no problem with this. Despite how it's affectionately called 'a psychological horror game for kids', it's generally a nice game and the content warnings above don't represent its mood.
So yeah, if any of this is something you don't want touched at all, please inform me so by leaving a comment. Thanks!
